  • Botox for Effective Wrinkle Release

Your facial expressions help show when you’re feeling sad, angry, or happy, but unfortunately, they also lead to unwanted lines and wrinkles. Wrinkles are a natural part of the aging process, but that doesn’t mean you have to live with them! Find out how a treatment of Botox in Bellevue can effectively smooth out your wrinkles for a younger-looking you.

    Who is a Candidate?

Botox is FDA-approved for those over the age of 18. If years of facial expression have left you with lines extending from the outer corners of your eyes, frown lines between your brows, and other unwanted upper-face wrinkles, you could benefit from treatment with Botox.

    How Does Botox Work?

Botox uses a purified protein to temporarily block nerve signals in the facial muscles. When placed at the correct points in and around the forehead, the muscles that normally produce wrinkles will stop contracting, leaving your face smooth while preserving your natural expressions.

What Can I Expect with Botox?

When you choose Botox, you can expect a quick treatment session with minimal discomfort. You’ll have the option for ice or numbing cream if you’re still worried about feeling pain. Side effects of Botox are usually mild and might include swelling, redness, and bruising, but unlike a surgical procedure, you’ll have no required downtime. In the days following your treatment, you can begin to notice the improvement in your wrinkles. Final results can be seen after a month and typically last for four months after your treatment session. After the results wear off, you can choose to let your face age, or schedule a follow-up appointment to maintain your results!

If you’re ready to treat your lines and wrinkles with Botox, contact our office today for an appointment with one of our experienced professionals here at Advanced Skin and Body Solutions.

  • Summer Bodies are Made in Winter

This holiday season, treat yourself to a body that you can feel confident in! Reduced stubborn fat is sure to achieve this, but you might not have time for a surgical procedure like liposuction or a tummy tuck. With CoolSculpting in Bellevue, you can get rid of stubborn fat and get right back to enjoying your time off with friends and family.

    What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting uses a device to direct intense cooling at areas of stubborn fat. With this treatment option, stubborn fat cells freeze and die, leaving your body to naturally process and get rid of them for good. If you have stubborn fat in the belly, thighs, or arms, you might want to schedule your first session with CoolSculpting.

What to Expect During Your Appointment

Your treatment with CoolSculpting is virtually painless. Being nonsurgical and noninvasive, there is no medication, needles, or knives involved. You might feel some coldness at first, but the area will go numb in just a few minutes. Then you can sit back and relax while CoolSculpting treats stubborn fat for you. The process should only take a few hours to complete. Because treatment is so quick and painless, many patients choose to have multiple sessions to maximize their results.

What to Expect After Your Appointment

After your treatment with CoolSculpting, you can get right back into your normal routine with no required downtime. Your results will show in just a few weeks as your body works to eliminate the fat cells. Once this happens, you can notice a well-toned and evenly contoured figure with a reduction of stubborn fat. Although the fat cells are gone for good, you can still gain weight in other areas of your body, possibly distorting your results. Therefore, it’s important to maintain a healthy diet and exercise after treatment.

To treat your stubborn fat with CoolSculpting this holiday season, schedule your appointment at Advanced Skin and Body Solutions.

  • Ladies, You May Want to Rethink That Bath Bomb…

There’s nothing nicer than grabbing a glass of wine and soaking in a nice warm bath after a long day at work. Baths are a great way to soak your skin and/or joints in needed minerals, aid your adrenal glands, and detox. Many women have turned to bath bombs for the fun fizzle, colors, glitter, and enjoyable scents. According to Google, “bath bombs” are one of the top searched beauty products of 2017. Unfortunately for all you bath bomb addicts, it may be time to look for a healthier alternative…

“What Have I Been Soaking In?”

While soaking in a bathtub with a bath bomb going may be relaxing during the moment, it can be harmful to your skin and, in particular, your lady bits. Here are some of the harmful ingredients found in a majority of bath bombs on the market right now:

    Glitter

Nowadays, these small, sparkly, reflective particulars are usually manufactured from plastic. Glitter made of plastic has sharp, uneven edges that can scrape skin, causing irritation. In addition to clogging your home’s drains, this can be detrimental to the delicate pH balance of your vagina. Vaginas may be self-cleaning (yes, the female body is amazing!), it’s best not to make it work over time. Let’s avoid UTIs and yeast infections all around by not soaking in glitter water for 20 mins to an hour.

    Talc

Talc has been advertised for “toilet and nursery” use since the 1890s. Over decades, the scented powder became associated with “freshness and cleanliness”, causing women to use it in their underwear and genital areas. After reports of women using the product long-term had developed ovarian cancer, Johnson & Johnson lost a lawsuit to the families, paying a $127 million in damages. While the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has not found asbestos in talc powder, it’s best to avoid using the product in your underwear or genital area or soaking in it during a bath until more research is performed.

“Fragrances,” “Fragrance Oils,” “Fragrance Oil Blend”

Keep an eye out for these phrases when inspecting the ingredients in your skin care or bath bombs. The FDA allows companies to use these terms in their labeling to protect their proprietary perfume blends. Unfortunately, these known harmful chemicals have been found in bath bombs (some on the EPA’s hazardous waste list…):
    Benzene derivatives
    Aldehydes
    Phthalates

Please don’t soak in these toxic chemicals!

    Healthy & Fun Alternatives

Fortunately, there are still SO many great ways to make your bath feel luxe and relaxing.

    Submersible LED Lights

Miss your bath bombs fun, bold colors? No worries! There are waterproof LED lights that can you can add to the bottom of your tub to give it the colorful effect that calms you the most.

Candles, Essential Oils, & Essential Oil Diffusers

Nothing will better match your glass of wine like a lit candle. Try to find one that’s phthalate- and petroleum-free so you aren’t surrounding yourself with burning toxic chemical. (Safety first; Be careful not to put the candle in an area where it can fall over or set anything on fire!) Prefer an essential oil diffuser? That works, too! You can also add your favorite essential oils to your bath water!

    Epsom Salt

Epsom salt is a great alternative for bath bombs because it benefits you in many different ways. Epsom salt helps relieve muscle and joint soreness, pain, sprains, headaches, and foot pain. (It can also be used as a face wash, exfoliator, hair texturizer, and more. There so many different uses for it!) Some brands even include essential oils in their Epsom salt.

  • Skin Care: The Hottest Summer 2017 Beauty Trend

While great skin care has been/is / will always be a cornerstone of the beauty world, celebrities (like Alicia Keys and Zoe Saldana) have helped make it one of the hottest trends this summer by wearing their bare faces on red carpets, premieres, and other events. The combination of summertime and soft little-to-no makeup looks has many of us chasing this natural, dewy summer glow.

But how do we go about getting this summer look?

Here are 4 tips to achieve healthy, glowing skin.

    Wear Less Face Makeup

Not only is this the key tip for this trendy summer look but it’s also practical. It allows your skin to breathe and helps keep oils from accumulating and clogging pores. It also keeps you from worrying if your foundation is smearing or looking cakey. Reducing your foundation use will allow you achieve this look while being practical, cost-effective, and time-saving.

If you don’t feel comfortable going without foundation, dip your toe in by wearing lightweight foundation instead of a full coverage or use a light concealer to cover blemishes or spots.

Brush up your brows, highlight your cheekbones, and tap on some blush and/or bronzer to elevate your natural look.

    Switch to a Foamy Cleanser

It’s a common practice to use creamy cleansers during the winter season to fight dry, flaky skin. While this is a great move for cold weather, it isn’t helpful during the summer when we’re dealing with humidity and heat that causes us to sweat more. Switching over to a foam or foamy cleanser will more effectively fight the extra grime and oil that comes with the summer months.

    Exfoliate

Use a gentle exfoliant 1-2 times a week to reduce dead skin cells and clean out pores. Feel free to use a gentle cleansing brush to thoroughly cleanse without damaging your skin. Try to avoid products containing ingredients that make you more susceptible to the sun, like glycolic or retinol. While we want to make way for product to reach the skin, we don’t want to make way for the sun.

Still feeling grimy? Our Dermazyme Facial is a great, relaxing way to achieve the fresh, glowing summer skin we’re all striving for. (Psst! And it’s on sale this month!)

    Sunscreen & Lightweight Moisturizers

Although our skin holds in moisture better in the summer, it’s still crucial to protect it. Even if you aren’t hanging outside, be sure to apply sunscreen as you start your day to protect you from any sun exposure. If you are spending your day at the beach, lake, etc., remember to reapply often as sunscreen smears and fades – especially on a sweaty day.

Even if you find your skin oily during these hot months, don’t ditch your moisturizing routine. Switching to a lightweight moisturizer can bring you the protection your skin needs without leaving you feeling sticky or over moisturized. A water-based lightweight moisturizer helps continue to fight wrinkles, reduce the appearance of existing blemishes, and help promote skin rejuvenation.

  • Fight the Signs of Aging with Our Ultimate Age Defying Facial

Watching your body change right in front of your eyes can be difficult. When we’re young we worry less about frown lines and crow’s feet, if at all. Although we were warned about our skin’s eventually changes, it’s jarring once they’re knocking on your doorstep. We adjust our skin care routine to incorporate more moisturizers and serums but it’s not always enough to get our skin looking like it was. Advanced Skin and Body Solutions’ signature Ultimate Age Defying Facial effectively targets aspects of aging skin to help it regain your skin’s youthful characteristics through 4 different therapies.

What Aspects of Aging Skin Does the Facial Target?

    1.Thick Skin

Over time, our skin goes through a lot. We experience acne and the scarring that comes along with it. Microdermabrasion is one of the skin therapies used in our Age Defying Facial. This medical grade, painless, non-invasive treatment involves spraying microcrystals onto the skin and using a suction device to exfoliate the skin and reduce the top layer of dead skin cells. It’ll leave your skin softer and smoother.

    2. Wrinkles, Fine Lines, Dark Spots, and Acne Scars

The Glycolic Peel is an effective way to tackle wrinkles, fine lines, sun damage, dark spots, and acne scars. This chemical peel captures the outer layers of skin, reducing rough and dry skin, leaving uneven skin coloring and wrinkles behind, ultimately improving your skin’s appearance.

    3. Skin Tone & Texture

Another skin therapy we use in the Age Defying Facial is the LED Light Treatment, a.k.a. Photo Rejuvenation. Originally used in the U.S. by NASA to improve wound healing and tissue in space, this specific light at exact wavelengths can be absorbed by connective tissue cells, promoting the production of collagen and elastic proteins that make the skin supple and flexible. This light stimulates the skin and underlying tissues enough to make eyes look less puffy, define cheekbones and jaw line, and make skin overall firmer.

    4. Dull Skin

Our skin loses its natural glow over time. The bt-micro® ultrasonic treatment also exfoliates to leave skin smooth, soft, and ready to absorb skin care products. The skin treatment uses ultrasonic microcurrents to encourage applied product further into the skin. The bt-micro treatment also increases circulation and promotes cell renewal.

We recommend getting a series of 3 – 5 Age Defying Facials every 2 – 4 weeks that may give you the best results.

The Best Part of Our Signature Facial

Want to know the best part of our signature facial? It’s on sale for the entire month of April! Come in, sit back and relax while we work our magic.

  • 6 Beauty Tips for Men

From CoverGirl’s first male spokesmodel, James Charles, to male beauty vloggers dominating Youtube and Instagram, men have begun to take the beauty world by storm. As more men dip their toes into the world of beauty and skin care, Advanced Skin and Body Solutions thought to share some truly helpful, basic skin care and beauty tips. While some of these tips are not news to many women, it’s time we have the essential beauty tips talk with our male counterparts. Whether you’ve never cared for your skin or know your way around a makeup counter, here are some beauty tips for men that will keep you groomed and feeling good.

    1. Exfoliate

Every day in our normal lives we accumulate oils, dirt, and dead skin cells on our skin. This can cause your face to break out with whiteheads, blackheads, and acne over time (or, unfortunately, sometimes overnight). Gently exfoliating your face with a natural scrub or cleanser reduces build-up and helps keep your face blemish-free. Be sure to do so in moderation as cleansing too often can strip the skin of natural oils that moisturize and help prevent wrinkles from forming.

Exfoliation is also great for reducing ingrown hairs. Eliminating harmful bacteria before running a razor against your skin is always a good idea. It also frees up the hair root and allows for a closer shave. With warm water, gently scrub the area with an up and down motion. Then scrub in a circular motion to increase blood circulation. Once you rinse you’re safe to shave!

    2. Sunscreen & Moisturizers

Protecting your skin from flakes and sunburns is just as important as protecting your skin from dirt and unwanted oils. If you’re looking to keep your morning routine short, you can purchase a moisturizer with SPF. Be sure to use sunscreen with at least SPF 30!

    3. Care For Your Beard

You should treat your beard as you treat the hair on your head – by shampooing and conditioning it regularly. When you step into your shower, extended your hair care treatment from the top of your head to the bottom of your face. Your significant other will thank you for removing any excess oil and bad bacteria that could be passed over to them or make you sick.

    4. Tweeze

No one should never deal with a unibrow or a few rogue hairs with a razor. Tweezing is the most effective and least drastic method of removing unwanted eyebrow hairs. If your eyebrows are especially unruly, you can always turn to a professional to wax them for you.

    5. Fight wrinkles with Botox

Sometimes our eye creams and preventative skin care isn’t enough to do the trick. Botox can be used to relax crow’s feet and other wrinkles and lines. Some doctors believe that starting with botox earlier on can actually help botox users age better in the long run.

    6. Ask for Help

As the modern man journeys into the world of beauty, it may feel overwhelming. The biggest tip we can offer is to ask for help. There are countless beauty products, treatments, and services. Save yourself time, and possibly some money, by turning to a beauty expert for advice or recommendations.

  • Microblading: A Revolutionary Trend in Eyebrow History

Beauty trends come and go but if eyebrow history tells us anything, thick brows always find a way back into the limelight. Thanks to celebrities such as Cara Delevingne and Lilly Colins, thick eyebrows have been one of the hottest trends in beauty within the past decade. Since 2015, studies found that sales of eyebrow grooming and treatment products increased by +250%, with some eyebrow growth serums seeing an increase of +200%. Across the country, women are paying top dollar for eyebrow growth serums that may or may not help them achieve the natural full brows they seek. But can we blame them? It feels like only a few years ago women were waxing, tweezing, and some even shaving off their brows to achieve wispy fine brows like Kate Moss, Pamela Anderson, and Gwen Stefani. With beauty trends constantly changing (and botched eyebrow jobs happening regularly), could microblading be the key to easily going thinker?

Microblading is a new form of tattooing where pigment is embedded under the skin with hair-like strokes by a handheld tool. Unlike eyebrow extensions or drawing on your brows every morning, microblading offers a hassle-free option for those who always want their eyebrows ‘on fleek’ without the constant upkeep. Celebrities like Bella Thorne have embraced the new approach to the always-perfect full brow. The process is a little painful but anesthetics are usually used to keep clients feeling as comfortable as possible. While microblading is most loved for its low maintenance nature, it does require some attention after the procedure to keep your brows from fading or infection. The bright side: the results can last up to three years. As the pigment fading rate varies from person to person, it is recommended to go in for touch-ups every year. A few days of maintenance for years of your ideal brow? Yes, please.
While thin brows have their glory decades such as the 20s, 30s, and 90s, we can always count on a Joan Crawford, Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Nina Simone, Brooke Shields, Whitney Houston, Madonna, or Cara Delevingne to give life to a full brow resurgence. Whether you over tweezed and your brows were never the same again, or you follow brow trends, Advanced Skin and Body Solutions wants to help you achieve your eyebrow goals.

Since microblading can be a big decision, especially if someone has previously wronged your brows, we offer FREE consultations for microblading. In our free consultation, we will walk you through the process, answer any questions or concerns you may have, and begin to learn about your natural brows hair growth pattern and determine which type of brow would work best for you. Advanced Skin and Body Solutions is here to help you achieve your most confident self. Call us today at 425-643-5772 to schedule an appointment or feel free to do so online.

  • 5 Skin Care Tips for Your Neck

5 Skin Care Tips for Your Neck

We’re all guilty of it. We worry so much about the acne, wrinkles, dry flakes, dark spots, and scars on our face that we neglect other areas of skin that also need some love. Unfortunately, many don’t care for their neck until it’s already begun to noticeable age. Our 5 tips for neck skin care help prevent and heal aging neck and décolleté skin.

Sunscreen: Sunscreen has become a staple in many beauty routines. SPF has even been adapted into cosmetic products like foundations and primers. But have you stopped applying sunscreen below the chin? Areas like the forehead are impacted more by the sun than our necks, but over time sun damage will age, wrinkle, and sag the neck. Prevent odd tan lines, threatening medical effects, and aging skin with extending your SPF 30+ routine down to the décolleté.

Exfoliate: If you’ve forgotten to apply sunscreen to your neck, it’s likely you’ve also neglected your neck in your cleansing routine. The neck is more vulnerable to dryness, irritation, and scarring because the skin has less sebaceous glands that produce natural lubricant for the skin. It’s important to include your neck in your cleansing and exfoliation routine as dead skin accumulates naturally, making the skin look and feel older. Gentle exfoliation over the area on a regular basis with facial cleansing brushes should do the trick.

Avoid Harsh Materials in Your Wardrobe: You wouldn’t put a brillo pad up against your arm and expect it not to damage your skin. The same logic applies to your wardrobe. Keep wool and other scratchy materials away from your neck to prevent irritation.

Don’t Skip Out On Your Vitamins: Collagen makes the skin elastic and allows a plump, youthful look. Vitamin C, Omega-3, and Omega-6 naturally help your body produce more collagen. L-ascorbic acid (a liquid vitamin C) can be applied to the skin, making it easy for the skin to absorb the necessary nutrients to stimulate collagen production. Taking Omega-3 and -6 before bedtime is another great trick, giving the body a chance to fully repair cell membranes and construct collagen.

Eating the following foods are another way to get these vitamins:

    • Flaxseed oil (makes for a great salad dressing)
    • Cold-water fish
    • Avocados
    • Dark leafy greens
    • Blueberries

Keep Your Head Up (Literally): Have you ever heard of “tech neck”? “Tech Neck,” a new phenomenon, is neck pain induced by constantly looking down at phones, laptops, or tablets. The spine pain isn’t the only result of looking down at your technology. Horizontal wrinkles develop on your neck since neck skin and muscles aren’t as thick or strong as face skin, respectively. Limiting screen time can help prevent neck wrinkles as well as lifting your phone or tablet up to eye level to avoid looking downward. Don’t let your neck give your age away; Always keep your head up!

Advanced Skin and Body Solutions offers many services to keep your neck looking young, helping boost your confidence and keep you feeling beautiful.  Micropenning, peels, and microdermabrasion – an age defying facial- can be performed on the neck for younger skin. Cosmetic injections can also be used to relax specific neck muscles, aiding the reduction and even eliminating wrinkles and prominent neck bands. • DIY Pumpkin Face Mask

Halloween is right around the corner! We’re so excited because then that means we get to use and put our pumpkin skills to the test. Also, because there are plenty of benefits to using pumpkin in your skincare routine. Because of that, we’re offering a do-it-yourself pumpkin mask option you should try on your next day of TLC or on a girl’s night.

How Pumpkin Can Help Improve Our Skin

Before we start with the ingredients, Advanced Skin and Body Solutions wants to explain the benefits of using pumpkin. For one, it’s a source of vitamin C to protect the skin from sun damage and improves collagen production. Additionally, the minerals found in pumpkin like copper, potassium, iron, and more work together to improve your hair, keep cells safe, and continue skin renewal. The carotenoids in pumpkin protect your skin from the sun and lastly, pumpkin can help treat your acne. Whether it’s mild or the worst acne you’ve seen, the B vitamins in pumpkin help solve your acne issues and improves blood circulation overall.

Here are the ingredients you’ll need:

    1 small pumpkin
    ½ teaspoon of honey
    ½ teaspoon of milk

How to Make Your Pumpkin Face Mask:

Remove the seeds from your pumpkin and scrape the gooey meat of the pumpkin and beat it until it’s creamy. Then, mix in the honey and milk.

Be sure to clean off your face and makeup before applying the mask. Be sure not to get the mask in your eyes. If you want to apply the mask to your neck and lower neckline, be sure to add twice the amount of ingredients.

Leave the mask on for 20 minutes and to wash it off, use a warm and slightly wet cloth.

If you’d rather just let yourself be pampered by our professionals, we’ve got just as much pumpkin and more to bring out the best in your skin. Stop by for our pumpkin dermazyme facial and pumpkin refresher facial specials. Plus, this month, you can get 15% off ALL pumpkin skincare products.
